Rain in African culture is often used to symbolize blessings to come. It is readily welcomed as it brings about a sense of renewal through the growth of crops and its representation of washing away the old to usher in the new.
In this design the earrings are like drops of rain, suspended by a glass bead and accented with the bright and playful Shweshwe fabric which is made locally in South Africa.
